The world took notice after a friend of the family made a plea on Facebook to find Yahya medical help. His picture traveled to Australia where a good samaritan took notice.
#6 Far Away Help From Fatima Bakara!
Bakara, a Morocco-born Melbourne resident learnt about Yahya and spent months finding him a reconstructive surgeon. She connected with Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital doctor Tony Holmes in 2014, and he immediately began making models of the boy’s skull to prepare rebuilding it in a high-risk surgery.
#7 After Surgery, Yahya's Better Than Expected
Just two weeks after surgery and he was smiling. Today, still he's smiling and although he'll need further surgery on his nose and for prosthetic eyes, he's now learning to walk. “It’s a huge joy, a huge happiness,” his father said.
